Call it throwback metal if you must, but I’d call the musical output of Olympia, Washington’s Christian Mistress an invigorating shot in the arm for a genre that can tend to go stale and flat pretty quickly. There’s certainly more than nostalgia prompting Darkthrone’s Fenriz to name drop the band every chance he gets – these guys (and gal) are ripping out some pretty fresh and satisfyingly chunky metal.
